Action Consulting is a research-based consultancy that specialises in advising service businesses on marketing strategy, sales effectiveness and customer service. Our work ranges from designing and implementing customer feedback programmes, to working with top teams to re-appraise and develop their marketing and sales strategy.

The business was established in 1995 and all our early clients came from the financial services sector. They included firms of accountants, IFAs, life insurance companies and global reinsurance businesses – a range of which we are proud.

Since then, we have grown and diversified through applying skills and expertise gained in one market to other comparable businesses, and through recommendations from satisfied clients.

A good example of this is our work with a leading network of IFAs. On the one hand this led, through personal recommendation, to being asked to develop a new sales process for a leading building society. On the other, the experience we gained, and the approach we used led to us being selected to work with a high-street network of retail stores.

We have taken great satisfaction in working with some of our clients for long periods of time, on not one, but many projects. One major client has been with us for over nine years, having entrusted us with over a dozen projects in that time. Another has been with us for seven years. These relationships, and others like them, allow us to deliver more and more value to the client with each new project as we get to know the business, and the people within it, more intimately.

Of course, you shouldn’t take our word for it.

Or better still, get in touch with us, and we will put you in touch with them.

Kevin started his career in the late seventies as an actuarial student with Manulife Financial before joining Canada Life in 1988. There, after managing technical support and the annuity quotation service for a number of years, he moved into a variety of marketing roles, primarily IFA Marketing Manager. In this role he played a major part in establishing Canada Life's credibility as a new player in the IFA market, working with a variety of IFA representative bodies, technology firms, advertising and PR agencies, research organisations, and hospitality companies, to successful establish the Canada Life brand in that market. This ultimately led to him setting up and managing Canada Life’s key accounts team.

In 2002 he joined Abbey for Intermediaries as a Key Relationship Manager, representing brands including Scottish Provident and Cater Allen Bank with IFA groups such as Lighthouse and Sesame. After a short break from the industry and a brief spell with a local IFA, he joined Cardif Pinnacle’s investment sales team to helping support and broaden their distribution capability in 2007.

Kevin joined Action Consulting in November 2010 and his main focus has been in further developing Action Consulting's IFA proposition with a particular accent on the implications of the RDR for advisory firms and product providers, as well as involvement in Action Consulting's Client Insight programme and using his analytical skills to support their industry research and development activities.

In his spare time, Kevin is an avid reader, enjoys most sports (sadly largely as a watcher rather than participant these days), and plays guitar (occasionally even in tune!).
